problem starting SL

when I downloaded the patch today it asked me as usual, do you want to start second life? I hit yes and it just showed a crash logger and kept doing it each time .. and when I uninstalled it it didn't come out of my computer all the way it just used some freakin backup file to cut down on download time.. wtf is this? I can't even download a fresh copy to fix whatever bug was in the auto-dled one in the client? its happening in all of them except for aditi and voice BETA, I had second life voice firstlook for a long time and had to uninstall normal sl cause it was giving me a headache of constantly redownloading the same stupid patch over and over and when I started it it would just crash. .. then I went into my documents and settings/administrator/local settings/temp and there's all these Second life icons with the same size as if I just downloaded it like 39mb etc and they're nonsense names like 1b.exe a.exe b.exe c.exe 1.exe 2.exe and it goes on and on.... I don't like having all this clutter in my computer what the heck use are they? and why won't they go away when I uninstall SL?

ps I've been here well over a year and I never had sooo many problems as I have now what is this.. slacking off or what? and we can't even get in game help now.. I've been to so many games and rp games and seen them go down in flames or just be so depressing to be in eventually I left after much stubbornheadedness and waste of my personal time trying to just log in without a crash logger(swg)LOL ok that's a uniquely fked up game. but sl is on my list of frequently crashing games now and I cant' even get to the line where it loads me etc. how am I supposed to get a fixed version of the patch if it downloads to a folder where it doesn't get deleted when not used by sl any more and just takes it from the most recent one instead of freshly downloading it from the site? *miff*

delete temp internet files and temp dir, that`s where everything u dl and execute is stored

I can just delete the whole folder or just its contents? (documents and settings/administrator/Local Settings/temp<---?

i have the same problem. searched all around the web and it seams no one has a valid answer on it just stuff like clear the cache/temp files or reinstall sl.
nothing seams to work i even reinstalled my whole computer

seams the client didn´t find a file:
2007-08-05T18:01:46Z WARNING: init_cache: Bad or missing vfx index
it tryed to renew it:
2007-08-05T18:01:46Z INFO: init_cache: Removing old vfs and re-sizing
and then crash.
anyone an idea?
