From: Phoenix Psaltery I, for one, am having very few problems.
P2 Well fancy you then, I have mass amounts of lag, something won't rez at all, and to top it off, I have crashed 27 times today so far. What happened to 1.7 being such an improvement?? I would gladly take back the poor mapping and slow ( I said slow, not enternal) rez times we had with 1.6. Better believe I will no longer recommend SL to anyone til this is fixed because I am not the only one.

I think the point that was being made was there likely isn't so much a problem with SL as it is with your computer. Frankly, if SL works properly for even one person, the problem is likely to be on your end. Since Monday's rolling update I have been having few problems as well, in fact there has been a significant improvement in sim performance. Case in point, I was in a sim that was full at 40 avatars and I was still able to move and shop, something impossible with 1.6.
What I suggest is doing this. SL is pretty crummy in the way it handles client updates sometimes. I suggest completely removing SL from your computer then make sure your video card drivers are up to date. If they aren't, then update them. Same thing for the motherboard drivers, soundcard, etc. Once everything is up to date then download and install the full client from the downloads page.
If this doesn't cure your problem then the next step would be to list your system specs so perhaps we can help you further.

You are completely ignoring the fact that he or she had good performance before Sl's latest update. For some it works for others it doesn't. There does not seem to be a common thread. The lindins have identified it as a bug and our working on it, suggesting it is his or her computer is displaying a lot of ignorance about the issue. I have everything that is required to run sl, and I am still crashing it is their buggy client that is causing the memory leak on the mac client not my computer, lol.

Heh, well ok. This happened to me and what I described fixed it. If it doesn't for the original poster then at least it eliminates the possibility of that being the problem. Yes, LL did say they have identified a problem with increased crashes and lowering of FPS but this would not cause 27 crashes in one day and I can get 15 fps on a laptop that barely meets the minimum requirements. If SL works on that then there is likely something wrong on your end. That does not mean that the changes to SL might be causing the problem with a specific configuration(which is likely) but with many people in the forums reporting drastic improvements since Monday's update, myself included, it makes me think there could be a problem with the client update. I have had to reload SL at every client update since 1.6.3 or so, I know what i am talking about.
I may be ignorant of a great many things but at least I am trying to help. So far I have helped 7 friends of mine get to the point of being able to play the game simply by making this very suggestion.
Being able to play well before 1.7 indicates the machine may have been compatable with SL but that isn't guarenteed as many people who were able to play using Intel graphics cards are suddenly not able to use them just as 1.6 made Win98 and ME users unable to play or 1.5 made ATI 7000 cards totally unusable even though before sometimes they worked. Robin Linden mentioned they were looking into perhaps raising the minimum requirements to play as many low end machines are having problems dealing with 1.7. They may not have to as they are currently working on an update that may help with that in the next couple of weeks.
Without system specifics it is very hard to guess what might be going on and reloading Sl is always the first thing you should try if you are having problems. It's sound advice, take it or leave it.
Being insulted makes me very much not want to help people. Not like I get paid or anything you know...
Edit: Looks like the post this was responding to has been deleted. I'm leaving it because I am tired and it contains useful information.
