A few questions on movement in SL.
Is there a decent way to get better movement control? To adjust movement sensitivity? Now, I understand that lag sometimes causes you not to move for a bit, and then suddenly you zip forward through a bunch of backed up commands. But I've had many times where I was standing dead still, and one touch of an arrow key sends me slamming into a wall. I've looked in preferences and can't seem to find a sensitivity setting to adjust this behavior.
Also, is it at all possible to use a joystick for movement? I have a Gravis Firebird joystick that issues keystroke commands when moved. Unfortunately, it's for the old Mac ADB interface, and not USB. While I have an ADB to USB converter, it doesn't help with converting the old drivers to work with the new interface. Has anyone out there tried a curent-model USB Joystick as a movement controller? Any recommendations? I'd need one that is Macintosh compatable.

1. Sometimes when I'm flying using the carbon rod attachment I go way, way too fast and keep zipping past my landing target. But this can also happen when I'm flying normally. The secret seems to be to lightly tap the button and wait a second for the result. With the movement script that's in the forums somewhere, you should be able to adjust it so you can move more slowly when you press a button...
2. I agree with you on this one. I'm using an Adaptoid USB device, letting my play games (in MAME) with my N64 controller, and it would be nice to use that in SL. (I should look and see if I can configure it for arrow keys...)

I'd like analogue joystick with SL... as Bertha pointed out, during flying, crash-boom-bang! Controls aren't as fine-tuned as I wish they'd be, as a result Residents are kind of like dazed seagulls sometimes. Variable acceleration done with applicable force would be nice. Of course, with an on/off key, there's only a binary switch. With certain flight accelerators (I use Wet Ikon ROAM), you can set acceleration curves, but I still haven't found it ideal.

This would also really open up the gaming options - llTakeControls only lets us "monitor" the basic movement controls and capture them as input - I think I saw a thread a while ago suggesting a general API or interface/protocol to allow us to use joysticks, lightstone, gaming steering wheels, ect - this would rock!
