Script won't die

Okay.. Here's one.

Stuck a script into a prim.. the root prim of an aircraft. It's a HUD display. Works fine except that the text is displayed too far above me to see it as I use a sit/camera script to essentially fly/look in first person view all the time.

So, I add a prim, delete the original script from the root prim, and reinsert it in the new prim. Works fine... text displayed before my eyes where I intended it to be.

I stand up... and look at the airplane... oops.. 2 HUD displays active... wtf?

I reset all scripts. Even take the plane into inv and rerez the just taken into inv plane then reset all the scripts again... Nope.. still two HUD speed/alt displays showing above my vehicle...

Ideas? (Not posted in scripting because this seems more a bug than a script problem per se.. the script is working fine.. it just won't die.)

if you used llSetText then try doing it again with an empty string. you have to force it to turn off. it won't go away just cause the script is gone.

Thanks Zuzi. I spoke with Jillian Callahan.. She told me that it is something like particles or something. She gave me a killhovertext srcipt. It's gone now.

Still seems like a bug to me.. not a scripting issue.

The effects of llSetText and llParticleSystem apparently become a part of the prim that they're called from, and not the script that does the calling, so even if the scripts are removed, the effects of those functions remain. In both cases, you have to make empty calls to those functions to get rid of 'em. :D

Don't forget llSetStatus, which is also persistent.
