been trying to log into SL for over 24 hours now, litterally. Have submitted a ticket but it has not been seen .. yet. I have already tried the uninstall and re-instal trick .. clearing cache, and what have you. What else could this DNS thinger mean.. I even did a tracert and it came back with all systems go. Need more ideas.. btw have been tryuing with two different clients. The candidate client and the Standard SL Client. Beginning to wonder if I have been banned??

It most likely means the IP of the SecondLife login server has changed, but your ISP's DNS server didn't cache it yet. DNS servers are there to convert URLs like http:/www.secondlife.com into an IP (an IP is like a housenumber with which your client would know exactly where to go).
If you use Windows, you could try to set the DNS server you use to one that already might have cached the new IP. In case you don't know how to do that, here's a hoto: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305553 and here are some DNS server addresses you might want to use: (145.253.2.11) (145.253.2.75) (145.253.2.171) (145.253.2.203) (195.50.140.114) (145.253.2.196) (145.253.2.81) (145.253.2.174) (195.50.140.252) (195.50.140.250) good luck ^_^ -Asriazh |
