Dear SL friends,

I can't manage to play movies. I'm told that i should have a button for movies, just like the music button (just above chat). I allready got suggestion how to turn it on through preferences, but it still doesn't work.

My computer runs on Windows Vista, but has a pretty good nvidia graphics card. Can this be the problem?

I hope somebody can help me out. Please respond and thank you in advance.

For the sake of those that might not know, let's first make sure video streaming is engaged.

1.Go to Edit – found traditional at the top left of your screen.
2. Find Preferences at the bottom of the menu (alternatively you could use the keyboard commands Ctrl P)
3.In the Preference Menu click the tab titled Audio & Video.
4.Under the heading Streaming: you'll see Play Streaming Music and Play Streaming Video.
5.Click on Play Streaming Video When Available (make sure you see the arrow!)
6.Click Apply and close window.

Depending on lag it could take a few minutes before the controls for SL's streaming video appears toward the lower, middle part of your screen. However, you're not done! Once you see the streaming video control, you'll need to press play to actually see the video. Just because the controller is at the bottom, does not mean it automatically plays videos. Think of it as a remote and you determine when to play, pause and stop.

Regarding other reasons. You may need to update your Apple QuickTime plugin. My experience though is that SL let's you know when your QuickTime plugin is out of date.

I know some people have been having problems with SL, Vista and certain graphic setups but I'm still using XP Pro, so I have no experience with trouble shooting those problems. You might peruse the forums because I've seen a lot of chatter about Vista problems with SL.

Thank you Klaus,
for explaining the entire procedure one more time. At least i know for sure now that i have done the right things. Unfortunately, the streaming video control doesn't appear at my computer.
I will have a look in the forum about Vista problems.

If somebody else knows another suggestion. I sure like to hear.

Thanks Klaus.
