Strange "Bouncing" Problem

My wife, Katt Kongo, owns quite a bit of land in Roxy, where we have our home.

In the last couple of days, we have been having a very strange problem which we first thought was related to the issues we've been having with our house, but which I am now convinced is a sim stability issue. It has also occurred on rental property that we have in Catax as well. The problem, as best I can describe it, is as follows:

Occasionally, when walking around, avatars will seem to fall into the ground to a depth of about a meter (and sometimes through the floor when walking upstairs in the house) and then begin bouncing erratically, about twice per second. Usually hitting "PgUp" to begin flying will cure it. If left unchecked (which I have done a couple of times as an experiment) it will end up bouncing you up to a couple hundred meters away.

As I said, I first thought that this might be some kind of a problem with our house, but last night it happened while I was walking through a vacant lot that is for sale next to our property in Roxy. I have encountered this sort of thing occasionally in the past, but only sporadically. This happens perhaps every 5 to 10 minutes.

Could someone please try to diagnose this and cure it? It renders our home almost unusable.

Thanks!

Usually that happens when the sim doesn't 'think' you're actually in the Sim. I've had that happen on occasion, where I couldn't cross into a sim because the hilighted sim in the mini-map was the one I left, and thats when you get that bouncing effect. Not much you can do about it, except perhaps reload and hope the server will be ok with you then.

Well, that's not helping this. It has happened almost continuously for three straight days.

I had that issue when visiting phoenix's house. I think it's gotta be sim-related, rather than anything that's phoenix's fault.

Either the Sim's physics are broken, or something...

The last time that happened to me was BEFORE the 1.7 update. I went to the telehub at the "North Pole" and walked off the edge of the world. The sim stopped thinking I was in it, and I kept bouncing around (it's more like freefall flying). One side effect is that the coordinates stay relative to the sim you "fall out of".

This sort of thing happens very seldomly. If relogging doesn't work, it's the sim.

Apartment in Roxy

I have an apartment in Roxy, at the Seaside Apartments. This has happened to me several days in a row. I start off fine, then suddenly start bouncing when I move, and end up outside, downstairs and the only thing that stops it is if I go into flying mode. I've even ended up in apartments next to me :( I dont' think the neighbors will appriciate this. Would love to see it fixed, or to find a fix.

Seems to have been fixed now. We were informed that the server that Roxy is on has been restarted.

It just happened to me ...on my land in Jarawa...and I've never had that problem before in this sim. When I was done bouncing, I landed smack into the adult super store..lol.

I saw a few sims have this problem yesterday. A restart fixed it (and generally does according to one of our grid folks). I'll make sure we look into it.

Roxy is exhibiting the bouncing problem again.

Our 13,000+ m2 in Roxy is pretty much unusable at this point.

:(

Did so. Nigel agreed to restart the sim, and said that a patch is coming that should fix this.
