I am not computer savvy, sorry if these are dumb questions.
My sim is 90% grayed out, including my avatar if I log into my sim. I can't rez objects from inventory or wear attachments. I can't TP out of my sim. Does this mean that my sim has crashed? Clearing cache or relogging does not help.
Where do I find chat for concierge service?
Thanks, Dee Furse

Sim Problems
06-08-2007 07:51
Hello, Are other users having the same problem or is it just you, if you are not sure I would suggest you first uninstall secondlife and delete the install folders, On a PC delete the secondlife folder in your program files directory and if your on a Mac delete the cache folder from the application support folder then do a reinstall and see if that helps. Also make sure that your settings for SL are correct such as network speed and cache size. By default SL has these setting set pretty low if you have a hispeed connection. If none of this helps and other do indeed have the same problem open a support call or ticket from the support.secondlife.com website there, once there you can open a ticket or use life chat as well as them listing the phone numbers for sim owners to call.

Still having problems with my sim
06-08-2007 09:21
Thank you so much, Ninja, for your reply. I went to another sim, and have no problems there with rezzing objects or seeing textures, or so I think it is my sim that has the problem.
I sent a support ticket several hours ago, and haven't heard anything. Do you know where I can find live chat?
Thanks again, Dee Furse

Linden Fixed The Problem

I found Chat on concierge services, and the Lindens had to restart my island because the download queue was stuck.
Thank you again, Ninja, for trying to help out. It is really nice that other people take the time to offer their know-how.
Dee Furse.

If it ever happens again, use View / Statistics, under Simulator you'll notice "Pending Downloads" and "Pending Uploads", under ideal circumstances, both of those should be at zero, or regularly drop down to 0. If you look at it for several minutes and don't notice it ever dropping down to 0 (in the extreme it can be at 800 and drop to 200 for instance, but that isn't actually an improvement) you might want to consider restarting your sim. Under the World menu, Region/Estate, the Debug tab and you'll have a "Restart" button there. It can take up to 30 minutes for any sim to come back, so if it's not back after a minute, don't panic . A stuck pending download - as you noticed - will cause some/all textures to stop rezzing in, noone is able to change clothes, wear attachments, rez things from inventory (you can still build plywood boxes), transactions may start failing, etc. If you get a combination of those problems, it's a good idea to start watching the pending queues for a few minutes and decide whether to restart or not. If you're unsure, you can always put in a support ticket obviously, but restarting your sim yourself won't damage anything and it's definitely quicker than waiting for support .
