This post is to offer a solution to users running Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and are suffering from crashing on login. I could not find any help on my issue in the Technical Support Wizrd or the Tech Support FAQ. I believe Second Life (SL) uses Quicktime to play streaming videos and music and when I tried to login to SL, the program would crash right after "loading" Quicktime. After perusing the Apple support site I realized that the newest version of Quicktime, version 7, does NOT support x64 windows. I tried reverting to several previous editions of Quicktime, versions 6.5.2, 6.4, and 6.1 did not work on my machine. Only version 5.0.5 worked. Now I can load and play Second Life just fine. Old versions of Quicktime can be found here:

If you are suffering from a similar problem I would suggest loading the old versions one by one starting with the most recent. Good luck and I hope to see you in SL.

Its not just for X64 users, there was a big thead for people with Quicktime 7.0 when it first came out and crashes, good info though.
