Rapidly flashing, cycling clothes?

I got my husband a new computer for his birthday, and SL is working just fine with one exception - when he (or another avi) changes clothes, it kicks off a cycle of rapidly flashing clothing graphics on them. It's like everything in their inventory lands on them in rapid succession.

Anybody have any idea what could be causing this?

I'm having the same trouble with rapidly flashing cycling textures when trying to texture my builds.

Sorry, but that's a relief. This is new to you? No new computer or OS or anything? Just started happening out of the blue?

I'd check to see if you have a supported graphics card. These symptoms sound similar to having an Intel Extreme chip, which isn't supported. :( To check, in SL... go to ABOUT SECOND LIFE from HELP menu and look next to the place it says "OpenGL Renderer".

So what does he do if he DOES have an Intel Extreme chip?

I don't think he does, but what if he did??

Edit: Intel 915G is what it says.

Yes... that's unfortunately not supported. :( What to do is:
  1. Check if drivers for that chipset are the newest. This seems to be a hit/miss thing, I know some Resis who are fine without the flashing, but it's not guaranteed.
  2. Better overall solution is to install a supported graphics card. There are many possible recommendations but the system requirements detail more about what'll work well with SL.
Best of hope. :)

There may also be an issue with latency, i know there is a bug texturing multiple prim linksets on a latent connection where the prims will just keep flashing

From the development post "* Texture all sides on multi prim object fails with latencey"

The rapidly flashing color changing clothes have only one solution -- the game of waiting. After a couple minutes AT MOST it clears up and your avatar is wearing proper attire.

He just logs out and back in again, and is now expecting his new card to arrive Friday.
