Once upon a time, I would only get this problem temporarily or selectively. Maybe one or two avatars in the room with me would have their pants appear to be tight around the ankle when they weren't supposed to be. Or maybe everyone would, but it would go away in a few moments.
Now, every avatar except mine has tight-around-the-ankles pants. All the time. The only way I can see someone's pants correctly is if they go into and back out of appearance editing mode while I am there. Obviously I can't just ask everyone to edit their appearance whenever I enter the room! I would really like to be able to see people's pants the way they are supposed to be.
My graphics card is an nvidia GeForce 7300GS, I have tried turning the avatar vertex program off, I have tried clearing my cache, I have updated my video drivers, and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling SL.

I have exactly the same problem. Eveyone has tight pants, until they go edit their appearance. It is very annoying and ugly. My own pants look fine though. Anyone has the same problem and found a solution maybe? I tried clearing cache, vertex program thingy, reinstalling, updating drivers, etc etc.
My graphics card is an Asus nVidia GeForce 7900 GT
I really would love to see a solution for this. Maybe we should put this in a bug report? First I thought I was the only one having this problem, but apparently I'm not. So I guess this is some new SL issue (although I can't remember for how long I have this problem. Maybe I had it all the time)

I have seen this problem regularly on my own Av. Edit appearance mode will always fix the glitch and puff out the pants. I've noticed that wearing socks will cause this to happen less often. Also, moving the camera down below my waist - to get a view of the socks - usually fixes it as well. As soon as the socks get 'seen' the pants' shape goes back to normal.

I think having this problem on your own AV is a whole different problem. In our case its our own AV thats showing correctly and all the others have tight pants.
Not sure its a drawing/graphics problem or a communication problem (not receiving the correct info about clothing from other AV's until they edit appearance).
I still hope someone has the same problem and fixed it. If not, then I will send in a bug report.

I am also seeing this happening on other av's but not on my own. Quite unattractive really.

The skinny pants problem is not new to this update and has been happening for some time now. While it is easy to cure it is quite annoying. If someone has a submitted a bug report I thank you.

I just submitted a bug report in which I quoted Solaesta Kilian for a summary of the problem and with screenshot and a link to this thread. Now we just wait...

Tight Pant Syndrome..

This I agree is quite annoying, and has already been addressed here in the forums. The only "solution" if you want to call it a solution) to this bug, is having everyone around you including yourself go into appearance and back out again. /142/5b/154784/1.htmlTechnical Issues that have been bug reported by many many people, and have not even been acknowledged by LL - I believe should be moved to "Linden Answers". All we are asking for is some explaination, or the confirmation that LL knows this is a problem, and that they are working on it. So far we are up to 2 threads about this one problem, that I know of, with not one single word from LL yet. /me Pecks on Monitor glass....hello anyone here?

Thanks for the info, this is a known bug — I'll request that it appears on our public Support: Known Issues page. I also commented here: http://lindenlifestyles.com/?p=290#comment-4530 [UPDATE] We have this as an open issue. It actually happened a long time ago in 1.7 and has to do with “avatar mesh deformation” not being displayed correctly. Looks like it came back, but we know how to repro it (and I’ve successfully seen it for myself too).
