Skin disaster

I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I had a terrible problem last night . I was talking with some friends and one of them asked what had happened to my face. I changed the camera angle and OMG it looked like I had been in a fight. There were what seemed to be bumps, bruises and cuts, no makeup and patchy colors.

I think I can probably work through this to find what caused the problem but here is the background in case anyone has run into this before.

I had two other skins that worked fine. I purchased a new skin from a reputable store a few days ago that worked perfectly. I had it on again last night and it seemed to be fine for a while. Then the disaster. Trying to fix it I went into appearance and on that screen it looked fine! But when I closed appearance it went back to the disaster again. Then i began removing everything I could. No change. I rebooted. No change. I finally managed to load up a different skin from my inventory that replaced the one that looked bad. But I'm not sure what I did to get it to revert.

Could I have a double loaded skin? Or a contaminated one? Does such a thing exist? I am going to try to contact the vendor to see if there have been problems with the product.

Or it could just be my newby incompetence. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Skins can get corrupted sometimes and clearing the cache won't always help. The creator of the skin should be able to give you a replacement. I would contact them :)
