New PC, or New Mac??????

Okay,,,,. Here's my question.

I may be in the market for new computer. Needless to say, SL is a very big part of my computer use.

I'm considering a fully loaded Alienware 7500 SLI with XP as the operating system, or a comparable Mac Pro. ( No CyberPower PC's! Received two in a row severely damaged. )

I've been very impressed with the ease of use regarding the Mac platform. Getting real tired dealing with windows. But, if I'm going to be spending this much money, I want a machine that will give the best performance.

The only (so called) games I play, is SL and EVE. Nothing else.

All opinions are welcomed and requested. Thanks in advance. :)

What else do you use your computer for?

I absolutely love Mac, and just bought a new quad-core Mac Pro tower with 2 GB of ram and a 512 MB video card, for use in playing SL, creating SL content, and and for many other uses. I already owned a lot of Mac applications, and my whole family prefers the Mac OS to Windows. And if I ever want to run Windows apps, I just need to obtain a copy of Vista or Win XP and I can install it on my Mac Pro tower in dual-boot mode under Bootcamp. Best of both worlds...

BUT...

If ALL you are using the system for is playing in SL and EVE, and if you have NO other applications you need to use? Get a Windows system. You can get/build a gaming rig that has a huge power supply and a larger, more powerful video card than anything the top-of-the-line Mac can handle, and for a smaller cash investment. And the Wintel client for SL is more stable than the Mac version.

The computer will also be used for standard word processing, excel and inter net access, nothing more. So far,, I see the PC seems to be the best choice for my purposes.

If I do go with the PC, as I stated, I'll stay with XP instead of Vista. I still hear too many issues regarding Vista incompatibility with various applications and games.

Please continue to advise. Thanks.
