I opened the debug console and I get a lot of these messages:
WARNING mixing AGP and non-AGP pools, slow!
What is that? is there something wrong in my settings that is slowing down the game?

if i remember correctly, this means that your video card's memory is being filled up, and the system is having to drop back to PCI mode and use your main RAM for video storage, and the switching results in slowdowns. if you're getting this a lot, i think one of the lindens said turning off AGP mode might actually increase your performance...

Bringing your draw distance in may also help prevent this problem since your video card will have to cache fewer textures. Just a guess, but worth a try.

I wonder if there is any new insight on this problem? I seem to get these messages:
WARNING Mixing AGP and non-AGP pools, slow!
on my debug console when I'm experiencing bad lag on a sim that seems ok.
My (GeForce FX5700LE) video card has 256MB, my (P4 2.6) system has 1GB of RAM. My draw distance is low. Really low. I hate it. My other settings are pretty conservative too.
Would a Linden be willing to explain some of the information on the texture console (i.e. black bar, purple bar, the colored dots & the numeric columns - does any column tell you the amount of texure memory used by a particular texture?) so as to further my troubleshooting efforts? i suspect that at most places there are a handful of textures that cause the bulk of the problem, i'd like to be able to tell which specific textures need to be replaced with something smaller.
Thanks, JL
