Weird Key?

Hi, just wondering what would cause a visitor counter to display a key instead of a name. Everyone else's name is recorded fine, but I have this mystery key as a visitor.
llKey2Name gave nothing. Is it just a cancelled account?

Odd. Hmmm.
Just... odd.
try feeding the key to an online status checker.

I think this is lag, when someone pops in, the counter picks them up and does a name request but does not get the data back correctly as name is the key.

I have seen the same at event, where is announces "Welcome soandso" and about 1 out 20 times it will say welcome keyhere...as of late I have seen this less, but it does happen..

llKey2Name will return a blank entry if that person is not currently in the region.

Yes, but llRequestAgentData confirms that the key in question belongs to an existing account. What I'm puzzled by is how a visitor counter would store the key and not the name for one specific account out of many.

Am I understanding what's happened correctly?

I've seen keys show up in scripts that use names, but I've never tried to track it down or reproduce it myself.

And yes, that is the key for a current SL user, though I don't see anything unusual about that particular person...
