ok first off iam a poor girl and cant aford the brand new high dollar graphic card. Here is my question. I had a nvidia 7300gt 256 ram card and it work pretty good for me in sl. the fan stop working and when the card started getting hot i notice things in game like everything gray takeing for ever to load so i turn off comp for about 30 min and come back for about 15 or 20 min untell the card got hot again lol Finly getting tired of this i went to the store to buy another card. The only one the store had was a nvidia 7300gt 512 ram being very happy about this i told him ill take it. he tells me i should let him order me a newer card that the 512 ram is no diff thin the 256. I told him the game i play (second life) i allwas hear that 512ram would be lot better in game thin 256ram. He tells me that the only thing the 512 ram going to do is give me bragging rights. Not being able to aford a newer better card and not wanting to wait for him to order it i bought the 7300gt 512ram. My question is. Is he right? There is no diff from a 256 ram card from a 512ram card? I have notice my self the grafices in game do seem to be better to me or is this just wishfull hopeing i didnt wast $100 dollars lol

Yes from what I was told from a computer geek he is correct, you will not see a difference between a 256 and a 512. I just bought a 8600 gt 256 and could have gotten a 512 but was told there is no difference. Good luck with your new card.

hope you didnt throw the card away (the one with the broken fan).
you can go around and see if anyone can replace the fan, and if it works after replacement, sell it off to offset whatever you have spent on the new card. _____________________

good thing about new model video cards is that they make them so you can ezliy replace the heatsink and fan
i dunno where you live but round here a cheap hs/fan is like 20 bucks at the local comp usa and its ez to replace all you basicly need is a pair of needle nose pliers and maby a screw driver |

After-Market Video Coolers:
http://www.xoxide.com/vgacoolers.html http://www.crazypc.com/products/video_card_coolers.html http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l2/g40/c21/list/p1/Air_Cooling-VGA_HeatsinksCoolers.html I've bought from all 3 sites. Even replaced a fan on an aging GeForce4 TI and and old GeForce 5700. Its not hard to do. Just follow the directions, and take your time. Make sure the After-Market cooler will work with your video card too. They usually mention the Version of video card it was made for. _____________________
