Hello all,, I have the Following configuration;

Mother Board= ASUS A8N32-SLI DELUXE
CPU= AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core (4200+)
System Ram= 1 GB ram (PC3200)
Hard Drive = 250GB SATA HDD
Video Card= GeForce 7600 GS
Operating System= Windows XP Pro (32 bit)
(Power Supply)= -(500 Watts)
System Builder= ME ;-)
Sound Card= Soundblaster Live

When I fired up SL, it appear a lot lower than expected.
In some sense, the handlings speared the same speed as the slower (PIII-800) system I upgraded “from”.

Is 2nd-Life not utilizing DUAL-CPU’s ability when present?

I’d figure that with all the staggering bandwidths, the SL servers would be Cyber-Hell-Happy to know that there are Clients out there (ME) with Dual-Core CPUS to take the load off.

The more there are users with Dual-Core CPU’s the less demands, I think, will be placed on the SL’s Servers, therefore speeding up the SL’s over-all response time.

Will “SL” release a PATCH that will allow clients with DUAL-CORE CPU’s to have their processing power utilized?

SL is not multithreaded
Windows is not multithreaded (well the versions most ppl are using)
Client programs are nothing but viewers... mbay thats why LL calls them viewers

and lastly even if LL did change the entire model of how the sytem works i fail to see how things would speed up by sending them info then them sending it out to you and back to them and finally back to me over a vast varation of internet speeds

:D

truth of the matter is theres basicly nothing using multithreaded software, aside from servers and maby photo shop (or 3d modeling ect)

one conversation i had with another resident went something like this ...

(them) ive got a badass dual core x blah bah whatever
(me) well i googled it, and unless you changed something your running 1.6 ghz on a single core with SL, thats how my 3 year old 1.9ghz single core machine is smoking yours
(them) i hate you

once a consumer version of a multithreaded OS for PC comes out it will be a different song ... and vista is getting closer and closer

the great thing about running a dual core machine is being able to run SL, photoshop, 3 different messengers and surf the net all at once without any system slowdown. My old single core processor running at twice the speed could never handle all that stuff at once as well.

;) single core try to do the same work a dual can do at once would sound like a trainwreak.

v_V boredom pic

3 Secondlife accounts up,
Guildwars
Psp 7 (yeh i still use the old crap cause its fast and i never really edit much)
2 firefox
on a Windows vista rc1

Did i notice any slowdowns , nope :p , can i start other things without it taking forever to start? easy.

Oblivion can use up to 3 dualcores sets them to AI, rendering terrain ect , alot more games comming will support and use it, wich i cant remember >.< dual core, tho some have issues, most easy solved by setting affinity, some get patched for it.

There is a playstation2 emulator on pc that use dualcore, its very fast dual, single is draaagging along, i tried my ffx on it and get okish fps, some are to fast -.o , emu's are like SL, heavy on cpu'.

After using x2'cpus awhile now, theres nooo way id go back to single, nothing like playing something and defragging , virusscanning, or just have several things up without slowdowns.

Buy a single now ill look funny at them o.o <sseeee,

if SL ever get threaded support it will definatly benifit dual/quad core users... wich would be like after Havock 2 right?, 2020? dont see it comming really -.- LL seems to have the priority set to, make things no one wanted changed latly. :p *ducks*

I own a SLI ASUS A8N-SLI ( older version.I resently put a 4400 -110 watt in mine and I had nothing but problems. I had tech people explain to me it should be working but nothing was solved. The issue about ( hyper threadding an SLI dont work is not true) i had it up and running for 2 days at a time and i was really flying thur SL. Problem is the dual core AMD are having some issues. from what i understand in my finding is the Power Supply might not be enough( maybe) But MAKE SURE your MOTHER BOARDS Bios are UPDATED.If you need help Please asked. I know alot about this MB since i had to deal with it the past 5 weeks. The BIO needs to be updated.
ANd No turning off Hyper threading DOES NOT WORK..............I wish people stop spreading this Lie
