Hey everyone, is there some one who could spend a few minutes to tell me a decent site that would inform me on how to "optimize" my computer for SL and Paintshop Pro 9.0 to run at the same time, i am running on a 3.0ghz 1gb ram 256 Nvidia Gforce 5200 Vid Card i would think i can achieve a bit better than 5fps in most areas, or is everyone this slow. maybe i should have bought a 512 card i dont know but i really think i can get better performance, anyone know something i dont?

All Responses are greatly Appreciated
Thx all

I have noticed SL is not constrained by video card as much as by CPU power. If you have a dual core or hyperthreaded CPU then you can manually assign SL to one CPU and assign PSP to another CPU. Otherwise, make sure other programs are not running in the background. Open task manager, look at the process list, sort by memory and/or cpu, and you can see the largest and heaviest programs running in the background. Many of them are not needed, and killing them might give you some extra cycles to run SL. For example, all of the aol, ipod/itunes, google, and other obvious programs are not essential.

It would be great if LL found some processing they could move to another thread, then I would upgrade to a dual-core in a heartbeat!

AMD Dual-Core Optimizer

gave me a whopping +0.4fps :p but least i dont have the odd studdering anymore , 1 gig ram is min for SL imo

21.4fps, in a sim with 31 avatars, 1600x1200 window

Only tip i could give is drop view distance, less to render ,faster, big crowds kill fps easy to.
