Just logged in to deal with some IMs I've recieved over night and none of the offline IMs were shown on the IM window.

This wouldn't be such a problem, but SL has never consistently sent all IMs recieved when offline to my email, so there have been numerous times when I login and find IMs from days ago that I'd never been sent to email.

Ditto here. It's a complete pain. Gotta look at my email, look up the person's name in Find and then answer them. :/ I know I've missed a few customers' questions because of it.

Same here :( I've filed a bug report.

I would think that'd be a good idea, to give them an idea and maybe find a concistancy on who its happening to etc.

On the first day of the update. I was in IM mode with several people and I received some of the IM's in my Inbox, even though I was online.

I've not had the problem since. But I've not really been "chatting" in IM mode since.

Anybody else notice this? or am I special?

Another thing to watch out for, has this carried on since the rolling update yesterday?

Not entirely sure what was fixed..

Happening to me too, since the 1.9 update. Lucky I check my emails first. Have had a few customers I too would have missed because of it.

I've seen some of this flakeyness myself--offline group invites sent were not being received upon login.

Just want to update, thanks for the info--anyone else still noticing this should post, I'll be watching for patterns and post more news as this develops.

I've been in a few group IM's since 1.9 that had something possibly related happen. If one of the people left the IM session, another person would have thier IM's prefixed with the saved message timestamp, set to sometime in Dec 1969. Everyone in the session saw it.

Is the date set right on the IM server? :D

Update:
03-18-2006 17:07
I'm still getting the occasional IM sent to my Inbox while I'm online.

It's not really a problem though. Kind of fun.

Imaginary Example:

Starax Statosky: "Will you marry me?"

...very long nerve wracking pause....

*Email bell rings*.

Char Linden - "No, you stink!"

I've gotten some of these too. I've noticed it happens if I'm in a region during a conversation with someone, and then crash and relog and continue the conversation--their IMs may be sent to my email as if I'm offline.

What's happening here is that SL 1.9 isn't centralized like previous versions:

From: Karen Linden
* Improved communication between regions
** A new method simulators running each region to interact with one another has been implemented.
** This new method allows for communication between regions, rather than requiring data go through a central server
** The internal path for almost all data that must go from one sim to another far away sim (where 'far away' is defined as not touching) has been c
hanged for the following functions:
*** Teleports (via map, home, login, offer teleport)
*** IM (resident to resident, object to resident)
*** Inventory Transfers (resident to resident, object to resident)
*** Friends online/offline notifications
*** Finder information (people finder has been touched barely)
*** The exception to this new scheme is group chat

from the Release Notes. Obvious gains include MUCH faster teleporting, although some wrinkles to be ironed out. I've seen the "1969" thing too--not sure what that is yet, but please send a bug report if you haven't already.

What I've heard thus far is that things should smooth out gradually as we go along, but if it continues to be a problem, I'm in the same boat. We'll keep posting here.
