Okay, I don't understand how this can be possible. A club in my home sim has gotten to be very popular, and there are typically twenty or more avs in the sim. Despite this, I don't experience lag. On a recent evening, I noticed there were over forty avs in the sim, and I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to enter the sim and it'd crash soon anyway. Nope, no problem getting in, the sim stayed stable, and although it took a minute or three for textures to load initially, there was only a little lag. What are you doing, feeding multivitamins to my sim's server? Three clubs in the sim, I live in a constant storm of particles, I've got scripts firing all the time, and there are at least a dozen physical objects running around the place . . . and it isn't laggy. I didn't know this kind of performance was possible, but things have been really great in my sim for some time now, even after it's been rebooted a couple of times. Oh yeah, and I don't hate any of my neighbors, either, and the club-goers passing by who drop in to chat are interesting and friendly. I had to join FightClub because no griefers were dropping in to shoot me. I find all of this unnatural and unsettling. I keep thinking it's a fluke, and that the sim will suddenly burst into flames and incenerate me and my cool neighbors. But it just goes on and on, being a great virtual place to live, and it's making me paranoid.

I think you've jumped the gun, it's not April Fools Day yet.

No joke. I mean, the sim works very well. I never before saw a sim that ran like this, no matter how new. It does everything I want it to do, even when there are two or three dozen people in it. The only times I ever experience appreciable lag there are when I first teleport in and textures have to load . . . and only then if there are over 20 people in the sim. It's remarkable, and shows that they really CAN pull this off.
Are the Lindens maybe using this sim to test a new, faster server or something?

See if you've gotten one of the new 500 series simulators. They're pretty impressive.
