hello all,
I wanted to know if at the server level, can LL turn on the following file extentions: DSX, DSF, and OBJ. If they do not have this capability, would a conversion tool be needed to be built. Or is it a question of LL not having enough server power. Thanks in advance for any responses.

no outside models can be imported

its not a question of server power its the end user

armatures already use megapixel textures for jewelry, litterly hundereds of thousands of polys for basic hairstyles ect

this throws most ppls computer equipment to the max (dunno about you but i dont have 2gb of ram on my video card)

now imagine the same irresponsible ppl making 200,000 poly gold rings with a 15 mb obj file to download

:(

part 2 of your question

yes there are a cupple scripts that allow you to go from modeler to world
one for blender 3d max, and i think maya

they export the model to a txt file, which can be copied and pasted inworld to a boulder script

problem is they convert each triangle to 1 prim, which becomes extreamly heavy

theres also a "offline" biulder for blender that uses sl prim properties, and of course sculpt maps, which works simmilar to nurbs
