Same old story in sl

I haven't been in sl in a while, I left being I got fed up with all the technical problems that plague this game on a constant basis. Problems the devs either don't know how to fix or just don't care enough to fix them.

So I decided to return tonight to see what's going on. I've crashed several times so far including now so while I wait to be let in again I decided to come here. Not only do you crash but then you need to wait a certain amount of time before you can re-enter this game. it continues to tell you you're still being logged out. Five, ten minutes later you're still being logged out. Go figure.

People inside are complaining at the moment as everyone see's each other gray. Everyone is gray inside.

When I enter the game I have no hair. I checked my hair in the inventory and it's not on. I click it to wear it and it tells me there's something being placed in that spot so I can't use whatever it is I want. So then the only way I can put my hair on is to teleport to another area which half the times you can't do because the teleportation system is still not working correctly. This has been like this since way before I left sl and it was probably the main reason I left in the first place. You can't go anywhere.

I haven't been here that long, for about 20 mins I think but I've seen enough. This game is so bugged out and people think the new game that was recently released called Vanguard is bad due to how buggy it is. That game can't touch this one in this dept.

I don't see any improvements in this game at all. if anything, it's worse then it's ever been.
As for me, I'm leaving once again as I'm not going to put up with all this again.

SL is worthless

I don't blame you, SL is not worth it anymore. LL hates it's customers. Every update has made the game more and more unplayable. It really pisses me off.

Despite the fact I do not experience 99% of the problems that others post here, I frequent the forums to hopefully assist those with problems.

The most prolific cause of issues with SL these days, seems to be with graphic cards. The move to open up the rendering pipelines, although an excellent choice for some (me included) has now taxed the majority of SL users systems. ATI not releasing a OpenGL driver is unforgiveable, Vista not having backward compatability is unforgiveable.. Graphic Card manufacturers not releasing drivers for Vista is unforgiveable... yet the target on the forums is Linden Labs.

Basic maintenance of peoples systems is grossly overlooked. Defraging the Hard Disc, Using a registry cleaner, clearing all those useless programmes that were downloaded and installed that were considered a good thing at the time, running other programmes on top of the SL Client, creating restore points before installing any software, keeping the OS updated and monitoring what updates are included and what they do, cleaning the air vents and fans of dust and debris.

For some, if their PC was a car.... it would spend most of its life on the driveway and broken.

Exactly AWM, I keep my system in good condition and dust free. Also any memory eating progs like Symantec's anti virus and internet security are horrible. Replace those by McAfee or Sophos and you'll gain a lot of speed.

heh, i rarly crash SL either maybe once a day
nor have any connection/login issues -.-
must be far and few of us

- gray blob people ; usually sim to slow (check pending download)

I do work with pc's for a living tho, and configure everything , ill agree SL can be buggy and crashy.

But err have you played Vanguard?, its way more annoying gamewise bugs in it is devistating for gameplay.

- fall randomly in terrain and die
- fall through terrain indefinatly
- easy to get stuck in various places /stuck yes
- stats bug
- pets disappear when chunking
- every update they are dumbing it down, should have known , its SOE after all -.-

To be honest.. I don't have most of these problems either.. A few here and there.. Lost invo and broken tp's are the, or were the major problems for me.. But with the last update these problems seem to have been cleared up.. I was actually quite immpressed on Sunday.. Usually the worst day for me .. I would lag and have serious packet loss and broken tp's all day.. This last sunday I had none of that.. It ran really really well... Now i know i should throw some salt over my shoulder and knock on some wood, but seriously alot of the problems that are problems are getting better.. But thats just me.. unfortanately not everyone is ...
Well I must also add that I upgraded my vid car last Friday, and that made a huge differance in alot of the problems i was having.. /shrug..

Out of the frying pan, into the fire :p

Not tried sophos, but nod32 does well at not taking over the entire system.

No problems for me either, my system is a midspec games machine from this last year not an office spec machine from 2005.
I have a full price ADSL plan that I get full service from :)
