My best computer (a dual core Intel) just now has been hardware banned. I havent done anything except explore and build stuff in SL, my account is able to access from an underpowered XP box without problems.
Who do I have to talk to, to get my computer unhardware banned? This is obviously an error! I was just in SL without any problems at all, I've gotten absolutely no note as to why in my email.
I have no children who could have access to my computer, and my boyfriend is utterly disinterested in playing SL, so this is a total mystery to me.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/hypatiacallisto/1227608583/that is what it looks like, if I try to log in via my dual core. My main computer is banned from SL. My account is not, in fact none of the accounts in my house are banned from SL. I can access SL just fine from my XP box (its slow though) For some reason my main computer has been banned from SL, and I have no note as to why. Something is wrong with how the hardware banning is done, or someone made a really bad error, or someone has spoofed my mac address. I want to know... sigh.

I can't help wondering if this is happening because of griefers using the client that avoids hardware bans. Assumably it does so by using made-up hardware profiles... so is that a possibility?

i get that message once in a while too. but an (or few) exit and relog will do the trick.
- are you on wireless? if you are, can try connecting to your router or modem directly. or - try another network card? switch with one from your other systems to test. or - reinstall sl or - play around with the preferences settings

You may laso have to call LL or fill out a support ticket. THey seem to accidetnally ban people CONSTANTLY Besides the people I've heard about in these forums, I've had TWO fo the 100 or so friends I have on SL hardware banned by mistake. That's a shamefully high percentage...
In both cases it required support to fix it.

I am on wireless, and I cant connect directly. computer is in a totally different spot of the house, and several computers have to use the same connection. My XP box works fine over the same network, so its not the network. Its a mistaken hardware ban, and so far no support at all from LL... and the live chat doesnt work for me at all. A friend of mine tried to get a message to them via the live chat, and nobody answered him. sigh.

woo it was able to log in.
I didnt change anything though... maybe someone read one of the various pleas for help from various folks, I dunno. I had reinstalled and it was still giving me the error (that's when i took the screenshot actually - after the reinstall) but now it got in.
crossing my fingers that it stays like that.

there is a way around it, but it completely killed my graphics card, u can do a "force start" but involves a little bit of tinkering with code etc, IM me for details
