Windows ME is your problem, not the combination of it and SL. Windows ME, as I'm sure anyone here can tell you, has had so many problems in and of itself, let alone 3rd part compatibility, that I would not hesitate to recommend that you wipe your computer and load XP or at least 2000. Sorry to be negative, but ME was probably the worst OS produced by MS, and I am an MS proponent.
