Hello,

First off I have to say this is quite the game! I dont really have any games on my comp other then Solitare and some other Windows card game. I useually use my comp for work "graphics/Adobe/Maya and stuff of the like". Anyways my question is...

How Much CPU useage should be seen during game play? "On average" When I stand there, it uses 100% of it and "Pack Loss" is at about 350%? I know this isn't right what can I do to remidey this problem? I know its not my computer, it has to be my settings in the game but for GP heres my comps specs.

Micro Winders XP
AMD Athelon 64 3200+ 1.79GHZ 939pin "single core"
1128MB 3200DDR SDRAM W/Cooling Chips and heat Spreaders
NiVidia AGP 6200 256MB SDRAM w/cooler chipset
180gig HD < 10% used w/HD Cooler
200gig HD <1% used w/HD Cooler
Ethernet Connection Running at 56kps-1500kps "depending"
Four or so fans for cooling
200W Power Supply
ASUS Mother Board
Over all system is a H.P.

This computer only uses 55% when using Maya 7 and only uses 100% when rendering and then and only then do the fans kick up. So Im rather baffled... any ideas guys?

A warm welcome to SL and the SL Forums, Soki--what you describe is normal. SL will attempt to make the most of your CPU, hence the near-100% usage. I am on a dual-core computer and so it runs me close to 50% of a single core, and on my previous computer, it took near to 100% too. Think of it as being not unlike Maya in that it's doing a lot of calculations in realtime and there aren't the preoptimizations found in many games. SL is live and direct and flexible.

Packet loss, however, is decidedly abnormal. For a more accurate count of it, stay inworld awhile, go a few places, then check HELP menu ---> ABOUT SECOND LIFE and check what it sez next to PACKETS LOST. It will give a cumulative reading for your current session there. You may also want to read Experiencing Packet Loss and I'm sure many Resis have helpful tips for ya!

Thanks for youre help! I found out about the packet loss, it turns out I had my net work turned up too high. And now becasue of this game I'm rather intersted in attending your summer college that is IF it can count as an internship for my BA requirement. Im all ready pretty darn good with 3d and such. That and now Im picking up Java Boks and C++ books! Ive done VB.Net but this is a real life app so we will see. I'll ask for info about the opp.

Thanks again and keep up the great work!!!
