Hello, Just was wandering if anyone figured out a way for SL to actually use more than 50% of their processor.

People whom have a X2 Processor with more than one core.

I usually set affinity to core 0 everytime I play SL

I have the dual core optimizer installed and that doesnt seem to do anything

anyone know of any tweaks to improve framerates?
I've messed with settings, and even lowering the draw doesnt really help much.

I do have the current forceware drivers intalled.
as well as tried the DNA forceware (modified drivers)

my specs are
4800+ X2
SLI 8800GTX
with 3.5GB of memory

Unless you know you're having problems with dual-core, do not set the processor affinity.

Since early this year, the viewer has been offloading some work (texture decodes, I think) to a separate thread. If you have two cores, that offloading should get you better performance _unless_ you tell Windows (this is Windows, right?) that you want SL to only use one core.

I think LL semi-recently did some viewer FPS throttling in SL - it may be that there's just not enough work to keep your processor very busy, since it doesn't waste time trying to hit silly framerate numbers.

your right the dual core optimizer doesnt seem to do squat. Mine runs better with only one core but still no where near as good as when i had a single core machine. I used to have an AMD 3500+ but have recently upgraded to an X2 6000+ and have had nothing but drama with SL only ever since. Improved everything else greatly. Lindens need to work on optimizing for dual core from the client asap as dual cores have been the norm for some time now. Even Torley rants somewhat politically correct of course about the lack of dual core support. The subject has been discussed since early 2006, and here we are about to roll into 2008 and still nothing.

Unfortunately its an issue predominently with AMD chips not intel, which is ironic compared to the lack of support for intel graphic chipsets.
