SL Prefs: No option for 640MB video memory

I have an 8800GTS 640MB video card but SL only lets me select up to 512MB. How do I get SL to recognize all 640MB? (Would there be a benefit?)

Also, I've never understood the "AGP" option in the graphics settings. Modern PC's use PCI Express, but there's no option for that. Should I turn this option off or leave it on?

Thanks!

One of the usersettings in the settings.xml notes:

<!--Amount of memory on your video card (-1 = autodetect, 0 = 16MB, 1 = 32MB, 2 = 64MB, 3 = 128MB, 4 = 256MB, 5 = 512MB)-->

Could try going into this file (documents and settings/youraccount/application data/secondlife/user_settings/) and find it, changing the line under this to note '-1'

Worth a shot anyways. :D

AGP is different for different set ups using PCIe. Some people see up to a 10 fps increase, most one or two fps and many see a drop. It is a trial and error thing. I leave mine off as it does nothing for me.

Linden Labs probably doesn't have any to test with yet, they tend not to jump on the highest tech for a while, they have enough problems keeping middle of the road hardware running. About a year ago they implemented 512m but it was months before they had a card to test it with and my shiny new 6800 Ultra was all they had to go by to see if it even worked. To be honest though, once above 256, there is no difference really and 128 is perfectly fine to be truthful as texture memory rarely spikes over 120.
