Ping rising hugely whenever I move (plus packetloss)

Anyone else got this?
Fly forward. Watch ping in Statistics window.
Mine climbs from 200mS to 500, 600, 1200. Even to 3000 or 5000 if I fly fast enough long enough.

Immediately I stop, it falls back to 200mS. Of course, my frame rate drops hugely, I go in big jerks, my stop is so delayed I overshoot, and then my view bounces backwards, so I see a glimpse way beyond my stopping point.

I tried everything recommended. Killed our network, put my computer straight on the adsl modem all on its own, made sure no firewall was on at all.

Only tiny, maybe accidental improvement. All this coupled with lots of packetloss, indicator or red 10 or 20% of the time.

Is this my 2MB adsl isp's fault ?

Mac, Tiger, 1.25GHz, 1GB ram, 64MB graphics card, 2MB adsl.

:) hay
try checking if you have loads of pending downloads, if you fly fast towards new things SL need to stream alot down to you, and if something on you pc cant keep up it will lag you down, your vid card is what kind? , cpu is also very minimum for SL.

ctrl-shift-1 brings up some info on the screen, simulator / pending download * upload ,, those should be zero then you have everything where you are currently.

Check your Bandwidth settings to while youre at it ( preference / network ), see if changing those do anything for you.

2mbit dsl isnt that bad doubt its that wich is making you hiccup, ack i see you have the same thing as i have been having latly, packetless like crazy, London - new york been very bad for me to SL, and im not the only one, crazy packetloss, been maybe 2 days now its been ok.

I have zero idea how a mac work, but you tried deleting the cache for SL to?

Yes Thili, I delete cache regularly, doesn't help this.
Thanks, I'll look at the pending download thing.
I assumed it was because my line was busy getting new textures, but why is it suddenly much much worse than a month ago, say?

I also experienced this , my packetloss could be from 1-9% to 10-25% , was like that for a few days, i traced and it went from 12-15ms to 300 (london) then 600-900ms+ to new york,, i check today i get 100ms top.

That wasnt my firewall or my computer, it was just lousy hiccup on internet, my brother could barly connect to Japan to (he beta something there), but now it works, internet hiccups hehe :)

Someone posted try setting down the bandwidth setting, dunno maybe, SL and internet can be wierd things sometimes.

Weekends in SL tend to be alot more buggier and laggier (waiting for cant connect msg's anytime soon i relog now), with so many online it barly hang on, :) tho they finally starting to clear up alot of those fast now.

Someone i talked to also took a defrag and their lag went away to, they had a sky high red line in frame console (that one you must have debug up to activate (ctrl-alt-d) then ctrl-shift-2)
