Apparently my girlfriend is having issues logging onto SL, the crash logger opens, no matter what she clicks, send or don't send, the bigger box opens. Then the log in screen never opens. I've looked in the knowledge base, and yes, there IS a topic regarding this issue but it's rated one star and it gives incorrect info. She has rebooted her computer, reinstalled Second Life, and ATTEMPTED to clear her cache manually from outside of SL since she couldn't open SL...but the knowledge base topic gave her wrong directory..it told her to go to My Computer > Local Disk (C) > Documents & Settings > [User name] > Application Data > Secondlife > Cache ....but she cannot find the Application Data folder, and if she DOES find it, it's not A) in the correct place & B) it does not contain the Secondlife / Cache part of the instructions. If anyone has info on this error please help, and thanks in advance.

uninstall SL

goto C:\Documents and Settings\(user)\

when your looking at your C:\Documents and Settings\(user)\ folder goto the top then choose tools and then folder options

this will open up a new window, choose the view tab, look down the list and find Hidden files and folders

choose the option that says Show hidden files and folders

once you do that you should see the application folder, go in there and delete the secondlife folder

do the same to the secondlife folder in Program Files

reinstall SL

Crash Logger problem

I am having the similar problem. I set up my account on a friends computer around Nov 27 or 28, 2007. When I was home, downloaded the SL application onto my computer and was able to log in fine. The next day I upgraded my membership to Premium and after I logged out, closed the SL application and later tried to launch the SL application again, I got the Crash Logger. I can no longer launch the SL application unless I un-install and re-install the SL software. I reported the problem to Tech Support on Nov 30, 2007, worked with an agent for over an hour to fix the problem - doing several different things and re-installing several times. Then ended up submitting a ticket to further investigation and am waiting for a resolution.

Also, the way to clear the cache logs manually in XP is go to C:/User(username)/AppData/Roaming/SecondLife folder

Well, the solution that was earlier posted worked, but the next day, the problem occurred again. She did the solution process again and it did not work. She did the process several times and rebooted her computer and it finally worked, but so far, the problem keeps occurring and she is having to do this solution process several times almost every day....wtf is going on? Ugh.

The problem has only gotten worse, please, she has defragged, disk cleaned, rebooted computer, reinstalled SEVERAL, NUMEROUS times....it's getting to be every time she fixes it, and logs out, the problem occurs again. Please, somebody, give us a solution.

She might be wearing an attachment or hud that is causing it.

Get her to remove all attachments with scripts, and take off all her hud's and logout.

If she can login again then it is one of them, with trial and error you should be able to figure out which.

I have this problem also, click the desktop icon to start SL and get the crash logger and then....nothing, SL doesnt load.
I got round it by right clicking the desktop logo and clicking 'run as administrator' from the menu. Im in Vista so I dont know if you have this option on XP.

Thanks Caroline Ra, your suggestion works for me. Funny, I wonder why this is because doesn't matter how to launching shortcut, would the SL application run using the same system specification on my computer?

Anyway, thanks for posting this solution Caroline. You're the best!
