When I tried to upload some .wav sound files I found on the internet, I received the message "File does not appear to be a supported sample rate (must be 44.1 k)." Is there any way to adjust the sample rate or otherwise overcome the problem? Also, when I tried a "bulk upload", there was the reply, "Unknown vorbis encode failure on (the name of the .wav file). I have Windows Media Player as my default player, and the Summary tab under Properties on these files gives the audio format as PCM. Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer.

You need an audio editor. If you want to spend a little money on a VERY good one, I can't recommend Adobe Audition highly enough. At just a couple hundred dollars, it's a fraction of the price of other comparable programs, and it's better than most of them. I've been using it almost exclusively for several years now, and I love it. If you don't want to spend money though, there are a number of free converters out there. If you have a Creative sound card, it probably came with one. Check your programs for Creative Wave Studio or Creative Audio Converter. Otherwise, here's 294 others you can try.

If you have windows, try looking in Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder.
Use Sound Recorder to open the wav files and can use the Save As option, at the bottom of the save window, there's a Format: Change.. (attributes) button. Press that and scroll down the Attributes list til you get to the 44.100 khz selections. I just use the 8bit mono, so not sure about the others.
Also must change to PCM format, if it isn't in that format already. You'll get that option once you select the 44.1 khz.
Good luck, Babs

Thanks to both of you, that works. Now if you see me in-game you might hear Hannibal Lecter talk about livers and fava beans... *shlup shlup shlup shlup shlup*
