I think I know the answer already, and I think it is "no," but ....

I want to make a slideshow for playing on a TV like screen in SL. I know I can cycle textures, but I want to do some pan/zoom/disolve effects as well. This is trivial to do in iPhoto or iMovie but one ends up with a *.mov file. Is there any way to play a *.mov file at all in SL?

(other than the whole streaming video option that is out of reach of the average player)

Afaik there is no way of playing a *.mov file within SL.

However there will be ways of getting some texture effects using LSL. Moopf Murray has a texture viewer that fades between them. Zooming could be done by playing with repeats and offsets. These can controlled by LSL.

Flipper has also done a tutorial for texture animation which may help. It's on the SL Boutique web site.

Thanks Roberta :)
I think I will be happy just with the fade.
