Are you serious? This is working like SH*T. I'm so tired of having smoke blown up my A*S. The wonderful new update is going to be soooooo great.. Yea right. It sucks more now than ever. Do the LIndens know anything about testing before they apply the changes? I cant believe how much this sucks now. Its unbelievible to me. Nothing works. Im invisible, my money is gone, nothing in my inventory is there. What are we to do? The amount of complaints is amazing and still nothing gets done.

A) Don't bitch on the forms about it.

B) You can't catch EVERYTHING in testing. Some stuff might not even show up until you mass release it.

C) Read the blog to stay informed about what's going on and what to expect.

Not an excuse, but

I'm not sure if my experience with databases matches with what's going on here, but I'll relate it anyway: Relational databases parse every query and come up with an execution plan for that query. The plan is chosen based on the server characteristics, database parameters and load, etc.. These "plans" are supposed to offer the best performance, but sometimes the plan the database chooses is not the most efficient.

This can cause massive headaches. For example, simply upgrading the hardware for a database server can cause the database to choose a less efficient execution plan! Also, determining exactly how a database will perform under the entire load of SL would be tough, you'd have to have a pretty massive test group / evironment, along with an exact mirror of all production hardware and software.

Developers do have some options. They can 'force' the database into an execution plan they know will work best with their code, the anticipated load, and the database/server parameters. However this is not necessarily optimal according to most DBAs and other experts.

So, not that this is exactly what's going on, and not to make excuses for the Linden folks, but it can be pretty hairy to manage massive systems like this. Good luck Lindens, I hope you find your gremlins :)

:) yes, i understand that they did some extra tuning to the db's during client rollout the other day...

cathy, do you think they are -trying- to -make it worse??- this isn't wordpad or even a simple game of chess, you know. take the pill marked 'chill'. ;)

get used to it, it happens every update SL have done, never seen one that didnt break something ever, take a week and they usually got most of the new bugs fixed!..

To bad they forget the old bugs by then and put in more new additions instead of fixing them, user load to high naaah... SL never breaks during weekends..never uh..

A: We're given no place else to bitch about this sort of thing. As paying customers, at least those of us that are paying cutomers, we have a right o complain about poor service and unusalbe products.

B: They have caught almost nothing as evidenced by the huge number of major problems occuring. The update was delayed so that they could do more testing and make sure that it went well. It seems even with the additional time LL was incapable of delivering a quality update. This is an indication of poor QA and change control processes.

C: Reading the BLOG is an exercise in futility as they are either clueless as to the actual conditions in world or they are lying to us.

v1.13 is a disaster, nothing has worked properly since the update.
I agree with Cathy, they got to be kidding, before this update SL was running fine but as usual they have to mess with a perfectly good working program to make it even better, yeah its definetly better. no one can go anywhere, search for anything, buy hardly anything, if they're lucky their av's and money show up, if not oh well blame the database. 4 days after update it's still a mess. Got to be kidding.
And Gin unless your a forum moderator you got no right to tell another resident not to write whatever she wants on the forum.

I agree with Ravanne, we do have a right to complain. so add mine to it, v1.13 is a disaster. SL was working perfectly fine before the update but they had to mess with it to make it better, yeah it's definetly better, 4 days after update ppl can still hardly do anything, hardly search for anything, hardly buy anything, half the time their av's and money are invisible, bravo on this one.
Considering the money they make per month you would think they would be more careful, how long are they going to have this many members if they keep making them put up with a barely running service.

Freedom of speech so dont bother posting that i cant say what ive said

Just my 2 cents worth

:P

Also why is there no actual complaints board on the forum? it's cos they dont want to hear it. and probably wouldn't read it if there was one

a: don't overstretch the means of your medium. unless you're a sloppy artist, and don't care about a few losses along the way.
b: been there; did that too.;) been in the credits. beta-test and -help.-
c: it serves you no purpose, so stop reading it. (if you're not aware of the current risks, then get out now. but i'm staying.;)

Stop defending Linden!!

The op can bitch, moan, whine and do whatever she likes. This is what this "form" forum is for. Besides, it does become frustrating to have to deal with this garbage all the time. Especially when Linden has had more then sufficent time to of fixed many of these existing problems already.

Not being able to tp many times is one problem that has been here long enough, yet, has this problem been taken care of? NO!!
All we get from them is they're aware of the problem. Being aware and taking care of the problem are two very different things.

Also, everyone here already knows what to expect every single time they add and update. Crashes, bugs and lots more problems. This shouldn't be like this since updates are to make things better and not worse. Unfortunately this is never the way it is in sl.

This is why most people in sl cringe when they hear an update is coming. Results: More problems then before.
