Void Sims are causing BAD performance in neighbors!

Ok, people. I've heard that Grigano had a visible FPS drop after the void sims (EDIT: Oh. Wait. Read it wrong.), I KNOW Seacliff had a SIGNIFICANT FPS drop (1500 to 250) after the void sims, is there anyone else out there who's noticed problems since they went in?

Lindens! Read the thread, and try to figure out what's going on! Please!

FairChang Island suddenly halved its Sim FPS on sunday, for no apparent reason. Nothing new was added. Same old stuff ?

Could this be related to more sims in the world again?

add Briarcliff Manor to this list.. I have been trying to hunt down offending stuff on the island, maybe this is the issue.

Ok, that's weird. Both of you aren't connected to void sims at all, yet you've both experienced recent drops in FPS?

Something very screwy going on. Worldwide drops in FPS? Straaaaaange. Maybe it's not the void sims, and the void sims just went in around the same time whatever it was occured.

LL? Help?

Perhaps as Garth alluded to, the problem could have something to do with adding a whole slew of sims at once. Which could mean that it could have been the addition of any large group of sims and not necessarily the void sims.

The funny thing about Grignano is, prior to the time period Garth was talking about, it used to have a sim fps of 200-300. A whole slew of sims were added and a system-wide instability became evident. The Lindens took The Grid down and did their hocus pocus. They brought The Grid up in stages. Grignano was one of the places that came back online first and, magically, its sim fps had quadrupled. It has remained at around 900-1200 since then. Even after the void sims were added. No void sims were added recently in the immediate vicinity of Grignano.

During that same grid-fixing, Rodeo's sim fps got a large speed bump as well. It basically doubled. It used to hover around 2500. After the Lindens overhauled The Grid, Rodeo's fps shot up. It has been as high as 7500 and would hover at around 5500-6000. After the new void sims were added Rodeo's fps has been around 4500. There are not a lot of prims being used in Rodeo. Most of the objects are Linden trees that reside on the client software and most of the textures I've used so far are one's that came with the client. So it doesn't have a lot of content to stream to others.

Maybe the whole grid needs to be "burped" again?

Another thought I had about Seacliff (and I'm no network/computer/programming genius, this is just intuition)... maybe a big drag on sim fps is the fact that so many other sims can see it now. Maybe Seacliff's server has to do more work. All the builds that make Seacliff what it is have to be streamed to the adjoining areas whenever someone looks in its direction. This could be part of the problem as well. Other areas in similar circumstancces might be experiencing this too.

Could be server hardware, the same issue we opine about over in Lusk. Depending on what server you end up on, you can have significant differences in simfps. sim8 gets us maybe 300fps, yet sim340 gets us 1500. And nothing in the sim has changed so gfar as content goes.

did the "Sim CPU" (using alt-1) change? Im not sure but I think sims share the same servers, so if it says 50% theres 2 sims per server and if its 33% 3 sims per server, ect.
maybe that changed. (has happened in our sim and it does seem to influence sim fps).

just a possibility.

Nope, SimCPU is at 1.00.

But hey! It's Sim4.

LL, you bastards. You refuse to acknowledge what we all know is true! Why?

Moleculor,

They will be falling over themselves to spill the beans after that.

You know, I'm not certain, but I think you said much the same thing the last time I started getting "hostile" towards LL. And you know what? You were right. They did. Guess what? They probably will again this time.

I like LL, but when they turn a blind eye to a problem that's so obvious that affects everyone, it kinda irritates me.
