Region handshake and stuck

Hi together,
i often have trouble getting connected with SL.
While login it runs to "Waiting for region handshake" then it stucks, and i get the message, that the login server never received any login information.
OK, so i restarted my whole hardware, my DSL, i checked if there are any ports that aren't open in my firewall. All things i can't explain, because maybe 2 or 3 hours before that happens it runs perfect. Well i still check, who knows about the secrets of computer, as their are only humans, too.
OK then i also empty the cache, deinstall and reinstall SL, try different locations (think i have them all now written on a paper), i have WinMTR running, a prog that check lost packages, well 1% in New York maybe, but most result is 0% from my box to lindenlab. i try to login when there are 14k people online or 30k, same result, so i don't think it is about the people running sl.
Hm i think all i could do i have done so far. Then maybe an hour or so it runs like hell, for 1-2-3 ... hours and when i try to login the other day or so still the same trouble, or getting login real fast, so i don't know the reason for that, i searched in 100's of english and german blogs and forum, well seemed i'm all alone in that situation.

My PC is:
Intel Core2Duo 6800Extreme, 2GB Corsair 6400 RAM, Ati Radeon X1900CF 512MB, my internet connection is DSL light (384kbps), i am connected to my DSLbox via WLAN, but no change when i use it wired, so i don't think it is about the WLAN (54m/100% well better is impossible i think :-) ) OS is Win XP Home SP2, all updates, my software firewall is Norton Internet Security 2006 and the ports open in my DSL-Box firewall are the ports named in the SL forum (yes i've doublechecked them about the ports and the TCP and UDP settings)

So help would be great.

Sorry for my mistakes, 'm german, so if u find some, take them a personal gft from me :-)

I found your prob in researching why it is happening to me as well. I'm hoping its just something screwy, and that we'll both get back on soon.

same to me.
send several emails to LL, no response.
for me all that trouble started with the last update Jan. 30 so for me it wasn't an update for me it is a temporarly immobilizer :-)

Well maybe when LL has made their number one website there will be some guys reading the support mails, have a good laugh and burn them.

I send several mail, and oh yes i always got an answer, from the automatic email responder.
I send my dxdiag, WinMTR files, maybe i should send them my computer to check the probs.

Let's hope, cross fingers and stop stick needles into small LL puppies that this prob is solved with the next "closed for maintennance" that is planed, ot the one that comes before and isn't paned or the sky falls on my head or whatever will happens, but hey folks, i have some dates this year i sl i really won't miss.

.... same here. I'm stuck at the handshake spot as well but I found a solution that worked for me. First of all. I have done what's said about ports in my firewall. They are all open. I disabled my soft firewall but NO nothing happened. Then when I disabled my hard firewall in my router then. TADA! I could log in.

Isnt' this VERY strange? I have opened all ports, but STILL there i SOMETHING in my firewall that stops SL. Have anyone got an answer?

Ok it is alright to disable the router firewall when I got a Norton one on my computer, but hey.. it doesn't make sense!
Pleeeeeeze. ?
