I got a message today from a member of my group, Pecha Kucha, asking why we'd deducted L$1 from her for Group Liability. As we have no funds in our group - and we ask for no joining fees I didn't have a clue. I contacted Live help - and they said it was simply a glitch and not to worry - because it's only .00001p (perfectly true - but of great value to a newbie for whom every Linden is gold dust).

However, now I've contacted a few friends and it seems that the Linden system is automatically deducting L$1 from group members of groups with deeded land. The money never reaches the groups - so where is it going?

I'm typically tardy about checking my account details - as I guess most people are. But I wonder if I can encourage folks to look through their account details and see if they're also being hit by this charge.

Yeah - I know it's very little - but single Linden dollars mount up - and they must be going somewhere. Live help didn't have a clue - and couldn't tell me where the money was.

Anyone know - anyone run into this before?

Thanks for reading

This just happened to me yesterday with a group that I'm in - rather WAS in until this happened - charged $1 for group liability. I had been in this group for several weeks and have never been charged for anything.

It's a known glitch that we aren't being informed of??? I'm checking all my groups and making sure that I get out of anything where I could potentially get charged group liability. I don't care if it's only $1. ANY amount is too much, and there's too much potential for future problems.

EDIT: One of the other threads I found on the issue said it's probably a charge for listing a group-owned parcel in Find>Places that was divided among everyone in the group. Heck, I was just in the group to get announcements. I didn't think they'd make me pay for stuff!

Group liability can be modified by Founder/Owners

Group liability is usually the result of land advertisements if Im not mistaken. This is a setting in the Group dialog that can be turned off and should be. I believe by default it will share out the liability among all the group members.
