hi
when i start second life and it tries to bring up the graphics, it freezes my computer and make s the graphics turn into vertical bars of a crazy, not right color
I don't know what's wrong
I have a geforce III TI550 graphics card
is that good enough to run Second Life?

I can only suggest getting new video card drivers. I've run SL on a ti500 and had no problems. Do other 3d games work alright on it?

i tried to download a new driver.. i got the newest from nvidia
civilization IV works okay
???

Then I am stumped. uninstall and delete all related sl files, then reinstall? Does this happen before or after logging in? You may want to email support and ask them how to make the client dump a log file that you can send to them.

Im not sure if that card is supported in the latest gforce drivers, you may want to try the last 7X.XX series driver

its supported nividia just recently stoped supporting riva - geforce2 cards (maby a 4mx model or 2 since they are just striped out gf2's)

I had crazy graphics with an Nvidia 5200 FX.
The problem was, the Motherboard only support AGP 1x/2x, and that was too little.
I got a used MB with 4x AGP from Ebay, moved everything over (watch memory type!), and it runs OK.
