Can't log in after crashing or logging out...

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but apparently the search tool doesn't work. Can't even find matches for the word "log".

Anyway...

I have been crashing a few times. After running several antispyware programs and cleaning up cookies and cache, the crashing has become a little better.
HOWEVER, when I crash or log out I can't log back in for 15-30 minutes.
It doesn't get any further than to "Veryfying protocol version" and then tell me to try again later. Hmm.
It gets frustrating when I was in the middle of something, crash and can't log in for a while.

Clearing out cache, running window washer, deleting temp files and deleting cookies doesn't do the trick. So the thing I've been told abou the game not knowing I have logged out isn't true.
And especially not since I can't even log in with my alt. char.
Sometimes restarting the whole computer does work tho, but I have had that it doesn't work just as many times as I've had it work.

Oh and I might add that my system is pretty good and normally (since I signed up) runs smoothly.
1 gig of RAM
ATi rad. 9600XT
3 gHz Intel Pentium 4
And SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card.

So if anyone has any ideas as to what could be causing this annoying problem and what I might be able to do about it I would be very very pleased :)

Thanks in advance.
Bella.

I've had this too, and I wish it could be solved easier in a less clunky way. The two main things I do to get over it are:
1) Turn my computer and Internet equipment off (sometimes it's like there's a clog in the pipes or something) for several moments, and then switch them back on. Not just the computer, mind you, but broadband modem and router and all that. Sometimes I find power cycling (not just turning off but disconnecting the power plug from the wall) to be noticeably more effective.

2) Shut down SL and then use a link from a web browser like secondlife://Plum to TP me in to that location. Kind of like a bypass switch.
Altho I really think SL should be able to detect, "Hey, something's not right here, can I find a way around it myself, automatically?"

The first thing you say I already tried, except we cut off power to the entire house for half an hour. LOL :)

The second thing: I tried it. It seemed to be able to log in fine this time without problems. So I will try that the next time SL crashes, to see if it works for crashing aswell. Thanks a bunch.

And yes SL should be able to detect that, but ack, it doesn't!

I sure hope so! It really isn't fun... Today it happened while I was teaching someone to build things :/

Can you imagine it happeing at a more inconvenient time...? I CAN!! lol
Thank goodness that hasn't happened yet.

I totally getya, it's like "AHHHH I WANT BACK IN!!!" :D

Just the startling communication disconnect and wanting to send messages to the people inside to let them know you're "trapped" outside of Second Life is reason enough!
