SL hanging at "loading SL" since update.

I have a bad feeling that the install files corrupted my SL cache again and I forgot where it was located, does anyone know where SL's cache is located exactly?

i cant login either

i also cannot log in, since updating to 1.6.4

Maybe it's not my cache after all, it's not even going to the login screen for me.

for me it hangs like crazy at waiting for responce, then it goes to contacting user server, hangs again and goes back to the log in screen

Looks like we're experiencing load issues right now. Just sit tight, wait a few minutes between attempts, and try again.

You don't have to track down the cache anymore; as of 1.6, just uninstall and reinstall Second Life to remove the cache and other temporary files. You can download Second Life at http://secondlife.com/download

Hmm, no problems here. Have you tried uninstalling SL, deleting your temp files, rebooting, and then reinstalling. That's the best way to make sure every trace of the old version is gone. After that, you might want to manually reconfigure your firewall rules, making sure to delete the rule for the previous version of SL if it's still there and then add the rule for the new one. Sometimes they don't automatically update properly.

Also, it's rarely talked about, but SL is brutal on fragmenting your hard drive. You might want to defrag before you reinstall. If your drive is as fragmented as a typical drive with SL on it is, then you've likely got pieces of SL all over the place, and Windows is having a very hard time finding them. This can cause all sorts of problems.

Thanks, before my cache corrupted due to a bad crash while loading and I had to hunt it down, good improvement now.

Also it goes to the login screen now, but having the response time issue still.

I just downloaded the game today no previous version and it is doing the same thing. It hangs at waiting for response then again at contacting server, then it kicks me back to the login screen

Having this same problem myself, and it seems after every 'update' this stuff gets worse, not better...ah, well.

Nope, uninstalled, deleted cache, reinstalled... still can't login. Gets stuck at the 'waiting for response' part. What next?

AGAIN, I cannot get in! What is it with these 'upgrades'? I swear, as we 'progress', SL gets more and more buggy.

I am paying a LOT to LL every month, and I dont pay so that I can sit at my computer all night TRYING to get into Second Life.

PLEASE LL, do something to FIX this AGAIN.
