I am thinking that many of the people experiencing crashing may be affected by the change to temp-on-rez items.
A friend tipped me off that temp-on-rez items count against sim prim limits now. I have tested this and it seems to be true. EdIT: I have now talked to Harry Linden, and he tells me that there has been a change to the way that temp on rezz items behave, which may be what is affecting people. When you first rez and prim and mark it temp-on-rez, it remains static until the point at which you re-rez it. This was to enable people to work on temp on rez things without having them disappear during the edit.
Thus you can rezz a prim from inventory and it is temp-on-rezz and WON'T count against prim limits, but if you make a temp-on-rezz item it WILL, until you take and re-rezz it, because it remains static, even though the temp-on-rez box is ticked in the object page of the edit menu.
If you rez a temp-on-rez object from your inventory, it will be temp-on-rezz, but if you shift drag that object to copy it, the copy will be static. That's a definite change.
I do not know any more detail, and have posted to the SecondLife Answers forum to ask the lindens.
I was assuming this was a bug... now I think it may be a feature, maybe Cali

Can't replicate that here.
I jsut rezzed a little over 1,000 prims of temp stuff on a plot where I have 200 prims left to play with, and I still had 200 prims left
It sure slowed my framerate down, but it didn't count them against my object usage.
So - it looks from here like nothing has changed

might be a glitch in your region. In the region I used to live in sometimes we'd have more or less prims showing up with no change in content on the parcel. Sometimes we'd have objects that didn't exist that were owned by other people counting against our prims. It might be something similar.

I checked this morning too, can't see anything wrong happening with temp-on-rez in Svarga. Various other little problemets but not this one thankfully As mentioned above it could be regional. Other people are noticing anomalies with prim counting maybe it's related.
