Second Life Affecting My Wireless Connection

I currently cannot log onto Second Life, and have had this problem since the beginning. I hoped it'd eventually pass, but it didn't, so here is my problem;

My wireless speed drops to 1 Mbps as soon as I try to log into Second Life, and I can't even browse unless I shut the actual login attempt down. I currently have an US Robotics router which is located about fifteen feet away from me. The wireless card is built-in on my MSI motherboard and has caused me no troubles at all, EXCEPT with Second Life. I've tried changing a variety of network settings in Second Life and on my network card, but I've had no luck at all.

It's only Second Life I have troubles with, so please don't start blaming perfectly working hardware which has been used with a variety of games, streaming music/video and other net-related activities.

It's annoying. I want to spend time with my SL girlfriend. x.x

EDIT: When I actually manage to log in, everything's fine again. It's only when I'm logging in.

That is all most will tell you. SL "doesn't" run well with wireless. Support will tell you every time that SL doesn't work at all with wireless, eventhough I've have the same issues cable or no cable.

Does your router have a wire connection? Have you tried to hook it up with a cable and see if you are having the same issue? Are you running any other programs while you are trying to log in? Do you have more then one computer on the network, if so have you tried forwarding the SL ports?
