Hi. Hopefully someone can help me here. When I try to run second life on this pc it runs really slow, sometimes taking over a minute for my avatar to move in any direction then it freezes and crashes. Second life used to run fine on this pc before one of the latest updates and it runs fine on my older machine. Here are my pc specs (it is over 2 years old now): Mainboard: Albatron nForce2 Ultra 400 CPU: AMD Sempron 2600+ running at 1.83ghz 3d card : Asus N6600 256mb ddr 160 gb hard drive. Running Windows xp sp2. I've rarely used this computer since building it 2 years ago so it isn't loaded up with programs, games etc. I can't understand why second life runs fine on my other, older, machine which has a cheap pc chips mainboard, AMD Duron 1.8ghz processor and a Nvidia fx5600 128mb 3d card.
Can anyone suggest anything?

How much ram do you have ?, SL recommended is min 1gig for ok performance (min 2gig prefered really), if youre low it will start to use swap instead wich can lead to crashing like this, swap ~ harddrive , not so reliable. Sempron is a light "office" cpu, its not very powerfull no matter its ghz.

Not a clue how much system ram they have if its 512 you really should get more if you plan on staying in SL ~.~

Thanks everyone for the replies. My pc has 512 mb ddr ram. It seems its just not enough to run SL anymore. What has me still a bit confused though is my other pc only has 512 as well and is much slower and older technology yet it runs SL fine.
No matter though. Thanks for your replies and helpful suggestions. I appreciate it very much. I will get around to upgrading or building a better pc from scratch soon.
