Welcome & orientation problems?

After a couple of attempts, I finally logged in last night for the first time. The orientation and Welcome screens popped up, but from that point on, I was stuck. I clicked on the 'Continue' button in the Welcome screen, and after 10 minutes it still hadn't gone away. I finally (accidentally, the first time) detached it. Then I clicked on 'continue' on the orientation screen and again, no activity.

I could see mine and other avatars, I could move around, and when I finally detached the Orientation, I was able to change my avatar's appearance and explore a bit. But I was never successful getting the Orientation to work.

Lag issues? Or something else I should be looking for?

Thanks!

Well, I found a work-around. I tried wearing the HUDs again as described in the Knowledge Base, and they still didn't work. So I just detached them again, and then went to the search screen and found a bunch of 'Orientation Islands' listed. So I just teleported to the one labeled public and was able to go through it just fine. I'm hanging out on the Help Island now to get a bit more comfortable with the interface.

Just in case anyone else runs across this problem.
