Video Card Issue - Questions

Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone else has an NVidia GeForce FX 5500, and what steps they've taken to make the game run a bit smoother with it. Anyone have any ideas?

I use Omega drivers with mine. Cleared up some logging in issues I had a while ago.

Omega drivers? Where can i get those?

SL is very CPU and bandwith consuming.
I'm not sure where the FX 5500 stands in the range of video cards, but if you have a slower CPU and lower class Internet connection it might help to upgrade one of them...

The Omega drivers haven't been updated since the 66.xx Detonator series OEM nVidia drivers. They're quite a bit out of date. Current OEM nVidia drivers are the Forceware 91.xx series.

For the FX series nVidias I recomend using Tweaks-R-Us.com's X-Treme G drivers based off either the 84.xx or the 85.xx drivers. You most likely won't get much out of the 91.xx drivers since they're really for newer cards and have some performance issues with SL (and just SL for some reason).

But honestly in my opinion, you're better off saving $100 and buying a 6600GT or a 6800GS.

I think what i'll do is snag those drivers tonight and work with that, and later on once i save some dough i'll upgrade to something a ton better. really, the card i have works great for everything i need, it's just SL that it still chops up on.

Thanks for the help! If you can think of any configuration things i could try to speed up the fpm, even just in graphics settings on SL (and i've tried a lot of configs) let me know.
