Well this evening I discovered my system hard drive was almost full again. Granted that I'm installing very large programs, this this not been an uncommon phenomonin lately and I set off in search of stuff to delete. I came across my temp folder, which is pretty darn well burried in Win2k. There was at least a couple gigs of stuff in there: about 500MB of which was obsolete SL installer files going back since 1.5-something. (a gig and a half was SL Cache that didn't delete itself upon crashing, but that's as much the fault of my hardware reasons SL keeps crashing than anything else).
Wouldn't it make sense to, you know, have the updater delete these old files when its done with them?

I dont think its really upto sl to clean this folder up, being a temp folder in the windows directory, there are many freebie programs that will clear it up, even if microsoft cant manage to clean up their own mess.

I don't know about the Temp folder (it seems to be a problem with most installers), but adding the -purge argument to the Second Life shortcut will delete the cache files upon login.
SL 1.7 should also include a Delete Cache button in the Preferences screen.

I hope you didn't delete the 1.5 client installers, i've been collecting them and don't have any for 1.5

Thanks for the Tip, Lee. *I* don't think you guys are cardboard cutouts. Strife: Sorries, I needed the hard drive space right then and well, one user's trash...
