Dell Latitude D820 CPU: Intel Core2 T7200 2 Ghz RAM: 1 GB HD: 80 GB OS: XP Pro SP2 Video: Mobile Intel 945GM Video Driver: 6.14.10.4764 dated 1/13/07 (the newest)
I have never had a problem with SL until last week when 1.14 came out. Then I started crashing every half hour or so - complete lockup - have to to do a hard reset to recover. After upgrading the video driver and the viewer to 1.14.1, I now crash instantly upon logging in - I can't even get by for 5 seconds.
Looking at the system requirements page, LL says that anything Intel is NOT supported. So does anyone know if I can change the video card in this laptop to make it work?

As a rule, laptop graphic cards are not changeable without a soldering iron and an electronic engineering degree.

i have a dell d420 and am in exactly the same boat. I think that the 945 card is on the mother board of this unit.
Help??
On a side note...the video card on my dell 8600 was easily changed to a 256 meg version.
help help help!! SL locks up every 30 minutes and gives me the windows blue screen of death. Intel has newer video drivers than what I have installed but my laptop will not allow the installation as they are not "dell certified" (or whatever) drivers.
help ??

My Gateway has the same graphics chip and it is working ok with SL 1.14 as well as it ever does. You might try completely removing SL from your machine and reload it. Doing this fixes 90% of problems like this.

The new video card would be worth more than this laptop (no offense). Better to buy a new one and sell this one, or give it to someone from whom you want something...
