Sorry for another ATI card not working post but i search and read the forum and not sure I follow if this can work or not.
I just got a Dell laptop running Vista that has a Radean Mobility X1800 card. When I start SL I get to the blank black screen right before you get the logon screen then it crashes.
Anyone have this working or information to fix it?

You need the very latest drivers from ati.
Sometimes latop drivers are not released by the manufacturer and the drivers for your laptop may be quite old in reality.
But try goign to ati's website anyway and see if they supply the latest driver set for your laptop.

Anyone have any luck getting SL to work with Vista and ATI X1800 video card. I just downloaded that lastest drivers date 8/13 and still don't work for me.

Hi,
Just got the lastest release date 9/10 for Radeon X1800 for Vista and still doesn't work. Display the black screen right before the login and the crashes.
Anyone have SL working on Vista with X1800 Radean card?
