As it is now, there is a glitch wherein the ban access property lines from neighbor's land show through multiple walls on my land. See image: http://www.flowerzombie.com/sl/misc/BanAccess_002.jpgI reported this bug last Sunday evening. I've read through the list of new features posted by Karen for the release of version 1.9.0 and did not see anything regarding a fix for this bug. Karen did mention, however, the list is incomplete and that she will be posting a complete list of new features soon....so, we'll see. Anyway, this got me to thinking. Why not lose the red ban access lines altogether? The lines are ugly in any instance; they only go up approximately 30 meters; they are not visible to the land owner who has them activated; and they do little to warn someone who is flying along that they are about to smash into a parcel that has ban access activated. I really see no purpose in having them at all.

I don't think it is exactly a bug that the restricted access lines show through walls. It is just a bad design.
They've always shown through walls for me, and they appear before you reach the restricted access parcel.

Thank you for your response Suezanne. I gather this has been a known issue for years. Do you recall if this issue has been previously discussed and if other residents have expressed their dismay about the ban access lines, or if there have been any requests that these lines be removed permanently from the game?

This sounds like a specific instance of the alpha order rendering "confusion" bug that has been around since dinosaurs walked the grid. It was supposed to have been fixed in v1.7 but it hasn't. Someone has asked that Philip adress this in his upcomming town hall

I've experienced this also and other issues when using one or more alpha textures. Personally, seeing the occassional tree or grass plant through a wall that has masked areas is only slightly annoying. In this case, no alpha textures are involved, and the lines of "No Entry" run the length of the build, are present through the walls, ceilings and floors, and can be seen through four (five if you include my avatar) layers of non-masked textures clear to the other side of my property. It's intolerable.
Are the two issues related, you think?

The ban-lines are 32 bit textures (24bit color + 8 bit alpha). They are treated by the renderer as any other 32 bit texture. To the best of my understanding, even if you upload a 32bit TGA texture with a completely opaque (no transparancy) alpha channel, the renderer will still treat it as a "transparentish" texture and then you'll hit the alpha ordering bug.
The workaround if this is what is happening would be to re-upload your solid textures as 24bit TGAs and then the renderer will treat them as solid.
If you have a doubt, save L$10 and re-texture the offending prim or body part with the default plywood. If this still doesn't fix the issue then I'm out of guesses. Good luck.
