Disappearing Prim Hair Trick!

Okay, so here's the deal.

Last night, my internet connection hiccuped while I was working on piecing together some pre-made prim hair that I'd bought. I love the hair from Lashed, but I modify it so that it fits my Luskwood avatars. I was working on removing the hair from one of my Luskwood heads (I always keep a baldie of each av around in my inventory) and got some of the weird "your-connection-can't-handle-this" hiccupping, where I click to select something and it pretends that it doesn't know what I'm talking about.

I gave up last night when I tried to toss a copy of the prim hair on the ground, after shaving my new Luskwood cheetah head bald. I had it on the floor for a moment, selected it, and tried to choose a new color for it. Well, the color in the "preview" window would not actually change, but the number values would. So I guessed to the best of my knowledge what values I wanted, set it, checked the hair - yep, looked right - and then right-click > Wear.

That's where I run into some trouble. Something hiccupped - guess it was my internet because my husband was having slow loading troubles on his machine too, and after SL crashed it took forever for me to access a web site - and SL went down.

This morning, I tried to resume work on my hair. I tried to pull out a copy of the hair onto the ground, as usual, but when I clicked the hair disappeared. I found it allllllll the way at the bottom of my "Inventory" folder. Which, oddly, also happened last night just before SL crashed for me. Well, so I tried to click-and-drag the hair back into its correct folder... but the cursor just floated with the "You Can't Move This Here" symbol on it for a minute, and then SL crashed.

Tried three times, and all three times the prim hair did this.

It doesn't do that for any other items in my inventory, only this one that started acting screwy last night. I tried clicking on multiple items - nope, nothing else goes nuts. Not even one of the -other- prim hair wigs that I have - just the one that I modified.

Strangely enough, I can still wear it, I just can't drag it out of inventory to copy it or anything.

Anyone know what's going on?

What happens if you wear it, then choose to "Drop" it? Does it drop? If so, can you pick it up? How does it behave then?

Yep, it drops, I can pick it up, and the problem has been solved.

Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Michi - thanks for the offer but it was not the head itself going crazy, it was the hair. (I keep a bald head on hand, and then use prim hair wigs as seperate objects for hair.) I've never had a single problem with my Luskwood avs - that's why I've got three! ;)

And the problem's been 100% solved now - I don't know what it was that was going crazy, but when I dropped the hair and then picked it up again to put it back in my inventory, it was okay. Nothing wrong any more. :)
