I have started losing massive chat packets. I am under the impression that sometimes I know when I do and other times I don't. This can cause second life to become a nightmare and confusion especially for close friends. Imagine that you send a hello to someone and they don't respond and then your impression is that they don't want to talk to you. These situations can become much deeper and confusing than this example. The loss of chat packets might be a deal breaker for me as it turns second life into a dread. My recommendation is that Linden Labs come up with a way of making sure that chat packets arn't lost. This is terrible.
Thanks, Wright

It can be especially confusing when the chat finally does come up and its out of sequence. I discovered that the main cause of chat delay was my wireless set up. For some reason this was causing some serious chat delay and out of sequence messages. Once I got off the wireless router and hooked up a hard line most of my problems went away. I still occasionally get a delay between hitting enter and having the line of dialoge show up, but compared to the serious issues I had before, this is nothing. Wireless can be convenient, but for SL I find it to be detrimental.

if one thing i learnt from friends, "dont do wireless." chat pocket loss is common, close to an update or thereafter. Can always feel an update coming soon or a grid down time, when chat pocket loss occurs, or losing inventory. Most instinces, can be corrected by either clearing your cache before you start, or just reinstall SL. After a couple updates, its inevitable to have to uninstall and reinstall SL. bleh. gl to you
