I recently updated to the newest version (not the one due out tomorrow). Now, the client crashes at Initializing Quicktime every single time. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling both QuickTime and the SL client. It still crashes - at that exact time. How in the world can I get in?

I've got exactly the same problem, the moment it tries to initialise QuickTime SL crashes. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, with no luck.
Looking through the forums, some say to downgrade to v6.5. But this has to be a specific issue with some people's PCs, otherwise their would be a whole load more complaints by now. If you want to get into SL, uninstall QuickTime, delete the QuickTime folder, and use a different player in Windows to play the QuckTime movies. But, you won't be able to see any movie content in SL. Anybody else been successful in getting QuickTime v7 to work with SL after they've been experiencing these problems? |

Having same issue here. As 1st time user, this doesn't cast a good light on SL. Might have to go back to earlier version of QT in order to get it to work right.

* UPDATE - SL can work with the latest version of QuickTime v7 *
Ok this is what I done to fix the problem: - I downloaded and installed Quick Time v6.3, you can get a copy from here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120261 - I launched SL, and Quick Time worked okay. - Afterwards, I upgraded to the latest version which is 7.1.3, and SL can launch Quick Time without any problems. So it looks like SL is looking for something specific that was in version 6, but not present anymore in version 7. Upgrading v6 to v7 still keeps something specific from v6, maybe a file or registry entry? Anyway, its resolved for me now. |
